ABOUT THE EVENT

ABOUT

U7 Game Day! is the official launch of the Ontario Lacrosse Association’s U7 (Paperweight) box lacrosse season. Designed for Ontario’s youngest athletes, the event blends structured game play with education for players, parents, coaches, and officials.

Held annually in late May, U7 Game Day! reinforces Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles by prioritizing skill development, safety, enjoyment, and age-appropriate competition under the LTAD U7 Modified Rules.

Beyond the games themselves, the event provides parent education on U7 Modified Rules, coaching support on rule implementation, on-floor training for officials, equipment and stick guidance for families, and season scheduling opportunities for team managers. By promoting consistent rule application and clearly defined roles, U7 Game Day! builds a strong foundation for a positive, development-focused U7 season across Ontario.
